
1998
Bruce Wheatley begins working at Kedren Psychiatric Mental Health Hospital as a case manager. While maintaining a caseload in the agency's School Satellite Division, Bruce becomes acquainted with many youth who were referred by teachers as being defiant, disrespectful and rebellious require mental health services.
1999
As a result of his experience at Kedren, Bruce incorporates Inner City Industry (ICI) with a mission to inspire youth towards academic achievement.
2001
Inner City Industry receives exempt status as a public benefit corporation by the Internal Revenue Service.
Inner City Industry introduces its Academic Achievement Outreach Initiative to students attending summer school at Centennial High School. The goal of ICI's efforts is to primarily gain an understanding of what issues impede a student's ability to excel academically.
2004
At California State University Dominguez Hills, Inner City Industry produces their 1st Annual Student Premier & Awards Presentation, Keep on Going..., with students enrolled in the after school program.
2005
Bruce's efforts slow as a result of several unsuccessful fundraising attempts. In pursuit to establish a reputable Inner City Industry organization, Bruce continues mentoring several students from the after school program.
2006
Inner City Industry redirects its mission to focus on the emotional, social, and professional development of teen youth. The organization's mandate emerges into providing Cultural Understanding, Curriculum Reform, and Economic Development throughout the inner city of greater Los Angeles.
2007
Inner City Industry is awarded a $5,000 grant from The California Endowment to support the organization's Street Team Mentor Program, composed of former program participants and community college volunteers.
2008
Street Team Mentors will provide peer mentoring support to middle and high school students beginning in January of 2008.
