

Centennial High School has been the focal point in which ICI began building a positive relationship with the 1,200 student body population. Our first group of twenty-two students began attending workshops every Tuesday and Thursday. Participation increased just over 25% to 30 students in the after school program during the remaining four months of 2003.

The year began with a Meet the Parent’s reception on February 11, 2003. Of the 22 students invited to attend, 16 of the participants showed including 9 with their parents and families. Over the course of the program students participated in various cultural, artistic, and entertaining field trips which included museum excursions, Lakers and Dodgers games, and performances at the Hollywood Bowl, as well as the newly constructed Walt Disney Concert Hall.
In 2003 ICI also established its Dollars for Scholars Chapter and participated in the Easy Spirit Walk-a-thon event at CSUDH. Fourteen volunteers walked to raise $908 for the ICI - Joseph Carter Memorial Scholarship Fund
Elite Model and UCLA graduate, Robin Harris spoke with students about the importance of attending college while in pursuit of personal desires
Creative Artists Agency invited students for facility tour and movie screening. Fox Studios also hosted students for an end of the year reception by the diversity department.
